Big-Picture Network Administration
|
| |
See more. Solve more. Save more.
|
| |
| An integral part of the FrontRange Infrastructure Management solution family,
DiscoverNET™ is a scalable, distributed network management solution that allows
administrators to remotely monitor, analyze and manage their enterprise with a
graphical representation of discovered nodes. |
| |
| DiscoverNET provides unparalleled ease of use and is tailored to the needs of
both small and large companies. Product installation can be completed in a
matter of minutes for quick time to benefit. Key features include: |
| |
-
DiscoverNET console with real-time network monitoring
-
Ability to monitor remote domains and segments
-
Detailed analysis and trend reporting
-
Remote desktop management capabilities
-
Enterprise scalability
-
Integration with HEAT® Service & Support™ for service views and the ability
to launch tickets directly from an object
|
| |
It all starts with network management protocols
|
| |
|
Comprehensive and agile, DiscoverNET includes support for Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP) and Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) to
handle the broadest range of management protocols. DiscoverNET provides
administrators with a simple set of operations that allow devices to be
remotely monitored, configured and controlled, reducing the cost of managing
devices.
|
| |
Better distribution means increased scalability
|
| |
| DiscoverNET supports the management of multiple distributed domains, allowing
each server to import the map of any and all remote servers in the enterprise.
For polling, distributed agents monitor the status of alarm thresholds for
discovered devices by using SNMP requests, saving long-term node statistics in
a local database. |
| |
Two consoles for interface convenience
|
| |
| In addition to providing local user access, DiscoverNET supports remote console
access in Web-based and Java™ platform environments, and the Java™ console is
optimized for low-speed WAN lines, so outsourced administrators and help desk
professionals can still maximize the monitoring capacity of the system. The
Java™ console’s basic functionality includes topology maps, event log views and
real-time graphical displays. |
| |
Getting the optimal view
|
| |
| DiscoverNET offers extensive topology options, supporting hierarchical maps
that can represent different views of your operations, from stratospheric to
granular. A hierarchy can represent cities, buildings or subnetworks, and you
can import bitmaps of geographic areas or floor plans to create a layout that
best resembles the actual network. |
| |
Comprehensive monitoring keeps you up on events
|
| |
| DiscoverNET polling capabilities are wide-ranging and all-inclusive. On an
administrator-set schedule, it delves into all manner of protocols for event
discovery and reporting, including SNMP/ICMP, Web, FTP, SMTP and TELNET. Once
reporting parameters are set up, polling agents compare the received data
against baseline data, generating alarms when deviations occur. In addition,
you can manually configure alarm thresholds for any polled variable, and
arrange for alarm notices to be sent when these thresholds are tripped. |
| |
Desktop management
|
| |
| DiscoverNET takes advantage of management capabilities, known as Windows
Management Instrumentation (WMI), that are native to most Microsoft operating
systems. WMI capabilities include the ability to remotely inventory, manage and
view associations—all without adding an agent. The services control interface
provides the ability to remotely start or stop services on a machine.
DiscoverNET also gives administrators a variety of additional remote management
capabilities via a user-friendly interface. |
| |
Longitude gives you context
|
| |
| Find out the state of your networks over time with DiscoverNET trend reporting
capabilities. The application automatically generates prescheduled daily,
weekly and monthly statistical reports, abiding by the parameters an
administrator has previously set up. These reports, which include graph, bar
chart, distribution and summary analysis, can then be exported to printers,
files or a Web server. Archived reports/statistics are saved to
industry-standard ODBC databases for quick reference and retrieval. |
| |
Customize for your enterprise
|
| |
| There are a number of ways that DiscoverNET is customizable. The built-in MIB
compiler helps you shape polling data, and you can create your own MIB
expressions. In addition, by using the MIB navigation tool window, you can make
custom tables and menus, which can display MIB tables; edit, graph, or chart
any MIB variables; and run an application. |
| |
